Abhishek Sharma became the fastest batter to reach 2,000 T20I runs during the third match against West Indies in Indore on Sunday. The opener reached the landmark in 1,024 balls, bettering Suryakumar Yadav's previous record of 1,164 deliveries by 140 balls.
Abhishek scored 69 off 30 balls with six fours and five sixes before he was caught and bowled by Shamar Springer. He reached his fifty in 18 balls and helped India score 87 for one in the powerplay.
Abhishek is the sixth Indian to score 2,000 T20I runs. The others are Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul.
