Abhishek Sharma reclaims top ICC T20I batting ranking
The opener moved ahead of Sahibzada Farhan to number one after hitting a 35-ball century against New Zealand. India took an unassailable 3-0 series lead.
Abhishek Sharma reclaimed the number one ICC T20I batter ranking on Tuesday after scoring a 35-ball century in India's six-wicket victory. The win gave India a 3-0 series lead with one match remaining against New Zealand.
Abhishek now holds eleven T20I centuries, surpassing Virat Kohli's tally. Ishan Kishan dropped to third in the rankings after missing the last two matches with a fielding injury, while Sahibzada Farhan moved to second position.
Abhishek and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi added 118 runs in the powerplay, with the first over yielding 26 runs, a record for Full Member nations. Sooryavanshi scored 45 runs off 19 balls in the chase. Abhishek praised Sanju Samson for batting at number three to accommodate the teenager.

Abhishek's powerplay dominance with Sooryavanshi creates a selection headache for India if Ishan Kishan returns, as both youngsters have justified their place ahead of the established wicketkeeper-batter.
