Markram backs South Africa to reach another WTC final
Markram said the experience of reaching the WTC final has created extra motivation for the current cycle.
Aiden Markram said South Africa have the quality and desire to reach a second consecutive World Test Championship final. The Proteas levelled the three-match series against Australia at 1-1 after winning the second Test by an innings and 31 runs in Gqeberha.
Markram scored a match-winning 136 in South Africa's 2025 WTC final victory at Lord's. He said the experience of reaching the final once has created extra motivation for the current cycle. The home summer includes Tests against Australia, Bangladesh and England before a tour of Sri Lanka.
The series decider starts at Newlands on Tuesday. South Africa sit third in the 2025-27 WTC standings with a points percentage of 66.67 after six Tests.
