Mitchell Starc took two wickets in one over as South Africa slipped from 203 for one to 232 for six on day one of the third Test against Australia in Cape Town on Tuesday. David Bedingham was dismissed for 50 after a promising start, while Wiaan Mulder fell for a duck.

Starc removed both batters with short-pitched deliveries. Josh Hazlewood completed the catch on the boundary to dismiss Bedingham after the batter pulled to fine leg. Cooper Connolly also contributed with the ball for Australia.

South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first. The match is the deciding Test in the series after both teams won one match each in the opening two fixtures.

CricHubb Take

Starc's short-ball tactic exploited a familiar weakness in South Africa's middle order. The pattern of promising starts followed by quick wickets has now appeared in both innings where Australia have attacked the short ball.
