Ranji Trophy opens with mixed results for India stars
KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal fell cheaply on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy as several India players returned to domestic action.
The Ranji Trophy 2026-27 season began on Sunday with several India internationals in action. KL Rahul was dismissed for four as Karnataka slipped to 9 for 3 against Andhra, while Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for a duck in Mumbai's match against Chandigarh.
Mohammed Shami and Akash Deep took wickets for Bengal on the opening day. Delhi reached 38 for 2 in their match against Bengal, with Sarthak Ranjan batting through a testing morning session.
Shreyas Gopal was ruled out of Karnataka's match with dehydration. Several teams opted to field first after winning the toss on the opening day.
