Sunrisers Eastern Cape add Nandre Burger and Craig Overton to pace attack

Birrell said pace remains the franchise's X-factor and the new signings provide depth and insurance against injuries.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape coach Adrian Birrell confirmed the franchise signed left-arm quick Nandre Burger and England all-rounder Craig Overton at base price during the SA20 Season 5 auction. The pair join Marco Jansen, Anrich Nortje and Adam Milne in what Birrell described as one of the competition's most potent pace attacks. Burger is recovering from a lumbar stress reaction and missed Major League Cricket earlier this year.

By prioritising raw pace over batting depth, Sunrisers are doubling down on the strategy that delivered three titles in four seasons rather than chasing short-term squad balance.
