Shubman Gill backs Anshul Kamboj and Auqib Nabi to feature in India's ODI plans
Shubman Gill has backed Anshul Kamboj and Auqib Nabi to feature regularly in India's ODI plans despite their difficult debuts against the West Indies.
India captain Shubman Gill has backed seamers Anshul Kamboj and Auqib Nabi to feature in the team's ODI plans despite their difficult debuts against the West Indies. Gill said both players are the kind who will be in the mix a lot, particularly because they can contribute with the bat at number eight.
Kamboj and Nabi were rushed into the ODI side for debuts this week despite their limited white-ball records. Kamboj conceded 82 runs in nine overs while Nabi leaked 84 runs in 8.4 overs on a batting paradise in Guwahati.
Gill said there is not much time to experiment ahead of the 2027 World Cup. He hopes the team will have all its players available from the next series in New Zealand and start playing with the combination they want for the tournament.

Gill's support for Kamboj and Nabi is pragmatic. With Hardik Pandya's fitness uncertain and Bumrah's availability not guaranteed, India needs seamers who can bat, and both players fit that description.
