Delhi Capitals appointed Yuvraj Singh as assistant and batting coach ahead of the IPL 2027 season, marking his first formal coaching role. The 44-year-old former India all-rounder will work alongside head coach Sourav Ganguly, reuniting the pair who played together for India between 2000 and 2008.

Yuvraj represented the franchise, then known as Delhi Daredevils, in 2015 after being signed for a record Rs 16 crore. He has mentored several Indian batters in recent years, including Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma. Delhi Capitals chairman Parth Jindal and co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi both welcomed the appointment, citing Yuvraj's experience and winning mindset.

Yuvraj said he was excited to begin a new chapter with the franchise and looked forward to contributing to the team's success. Delhi have yet to win an IPL title despite reaching the final in 2020.

Yuvraj's appointment gives Delhi Capitals a coach who has handled pressure on the biggest stages. His presence alongside Ganguly creates a setup that values both technical input and the mindset required to close matches under expectation.
