Ayush Badoni's 106 follows his 217 against Gujarat, making him the 21st Indian to score consecutive first-class double-hundreds.

Ayush Badoni reached his unbeaten 106 on the first day of Delhi's Ranji Trophy match against Jharkhand in Ranchi, his second straight first-class double-hundred after 217 against Gujarat. He got there in 111 balls, his sixth first-class century, and helped Delhi recover from 181 for five to close at 309 for five. Sumit Mathur stayed with him through an unbroken 128-run stand, finishing unbeaten on 50.

Badoni now sits alongside Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir in a group of 21 Indian batters who've managed consecutive first-class double-hundreds. Mathur said batting with Badoni makes his own job easier—the captain plays the strokes while he builds his innings.

Delhi rested Navdeep Saini and handed a debut to left-arm spinner Aman Chaudhary. Jharkhand lost opener Shikhar Mohan to the India-A squad touring New Zealand; the 21-year-old had already scored two centuries in their first two Ranji matches.

The question now is whether Delhi can convert these runs into points once the bowlers are forced to carry the load on flatter tracks later in the season.
