Ayush Mhatre named Mumbai vice-captain for Ranji Trophy
Ayush Mhatre has been named Mumbai's vice-captain for the Ranji Trophy season at age 19.
Mumbai named 19-year-old Ayush Mhatre as vice-captain for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season under captain Siddhesh Lad. Mhatre guided India Under-19 to the World Cup title last year.
Mhatre said being vice-captain of Mumbai is a huge responsibility given the team's history of 42 Ranji titles. He credited senior players for making him feel comfortable and said he learned the importance of staying calm from Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Mumbai open their campaign against Chandigarh at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. The squad includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan and Musheer Khan.
