Bangladesh ended day one of the first Test against West Indies on 213 for 3 at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Shadman Islam remained unbeaten on 99 from 219 balls after reaching his fifty off 95 deliveries. Play was called off early due to bad light after 74 overs.

Towhid Hridoy retired hurt on 42 with cramps after adding 88 runs with Shadman for the third wicket. Jomel Warrican took two for 33 for the visitors. Liton Das returned to the side after recovering from a hip injury, while Towhid replaced the injured Mushfiqur Rahim.

Bangladesh had earlier lost Tanzid Hasan for 9, Mominul Haque for 28 and Najmul Hossain Shanto for 19. The tourists will resume bowling on the second morning with Bangladesh still needing one run for Shadman to reach his century.

CricHubb Take

Shadman's near-century sets up Bangladesh to build a substantial first-innings total if the middle order can capitalise on the platform on day two.
