Cooper Connolly claims maiden Test wicket on day one in Cape Town
The left-arm spinner struck on his first day in Cape Town to remove South Africa's opener Matthew Breetzke.
Cooper Connolly took his maiden Test wicket on day one of the second Test against South Africa at Newlands. The 23-year-old dismissed Matthew Breetzke after making his Test debut in Galle in February last year.
Australia took four wickets in the second session after electing to bowl first. South Africa reached 158 for the first wicket before Nathan Lyon dismissed Marques Ackerman.
South Africa were eventually bowled out for 329. Australia reached 330 for four in reply, with Josh Inglis unbeaten on 85 and Matt Renshaw making 74.

Connolly's early impact at Newlands raises the question of whether Australia will keep him in the XI for the rest of the series even if Lyon regains full fitness, or whether the left-arm option now becomes a permanent fixture.
