When we get it wrong, we fix it in the open
We report fast, and fast reporting sometimes gets a detail wrong. When it does, we correct it visibly — never by quietly editing the record and hoping nobody noticed.
How a correction works
A corrected story is labelled Corrected.
The story wears a Corrected state you can see. There is no silent fix — the label is part of the story.
The history is kept.
Nothing is deleted. A story keeps its earlier states and its running-story beats, so the record shows what changed and when.
The correction is specific.
We fix the fact that was wrong and say so — we don’t rewrite a story to bury the error.
Spotted an error?
Tell the desk. Include the story’s URL, what’s wrong, and the correct fact with a source if you have one — a sourced correction reaches the top of the queue.
