Sanjay Bangar says Dhruv Jurel has been a good addition to India Test side
Sanjay Bangar praised Dhruv Jurel's progress and stressed the importance of the number seven and eight positions ahead of India's New Zealand Tests.
Former India assistant coach Sanjay Bangar said Dhruv Jurel has settled well as a specialist batter after scoring 173 runs at 86.50 in the recent Sri Lanka series. Jurel, 25, has now played 12 Tests and averages 40.68 with two centuries and two half-centuries.
Bangar told Hindustan Times that the number seven and eight spots will be critical for India in the two-Test series in New Zealand that starts on November 19. He noted that the side may field either Ravindra Jadeja at seven with four fast bowlers or three quicks plus a pace-bowling all-rounder.
Bangar added that the six batters likely to play have experience in all conditions and that the pace-bowling all-rounder at number eight becomes decisive for a good result on New Zealand pitches.

Bangar's focus on the number seven and eight spots reveals that India still see the lower order as the decisive variable on seaming pitches, not just the top six.
