PSL explores six-a-side tournament for off-season
PSL chief executive Salman Naseer confirmed plans for a six-a-side tournament remain under discussion ahead of the governing council meeting.
The Pakistan Super League is considering a six-a-side tournament during the off-season to keep the brand active throughout the year. PSL chief executive Salman Naseer said the proposed PSL Sixes could follow a format similar to the Hong Kong Sixes.
The shorter competition would provide additional revenue for franchises and commercial partners while allowing the league to reach fans in smaller cities. Naseer noted that fewer players and reduced logistics would make the event more manageable than the main tournament.
The PCB has yet to finalise dates or confirm overseas player availability. The 2027 PSL edition is scheduled to overlap with the IPL for the third consecutive year.

The overlap with the IPL in 2027 will force the PSL to compete directly for international talent. A shorter sixes event could serve as both a marketing tool and a scheduling workaround.
