Pakistan captain Babar Azam said left-arm spinner Sufyan Moqim will serve the national team for years after his strong PSL 2026 campaign. Moqim took 22 wickets at an average of 14.40 and economy of 7.20 for Peshawar Zalmi.

Azam worked directly with the 20-year-old during the tournament and called him an asset for Pakistan's future. Moqim also claimed three wickets in Pakistan's Asian Games semi-final win over Bangladesh before going wicketless in the final loss to India.

The spinner added 12 wickets in six matches for Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the Caribbean Premier League. Pakistan next play a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi starting October 11.

CricHubb Take

Azam's public endorsement after one strong domestic season signals that Pakistan are fast-tracking left-arm spin options ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup cycle. Moqim's workload across three different T20 leagues already exceeds what most uncapped bowlers receive in a full year.
