Mohsin Naqvi rejects PSL owners' demand to cut player salaries
Naqvi maintained the salary structure despite rising costs cited by some owners.
Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi turned down a request from some PSL franchise owners to lower player salary caps, local media reported. The board has fixed the base purse at $1.6 million per team for the January 23 auction, and owners can stretch it to $1.8 million if they want to sign an overseas player who sat out last season. Elite players can still reach $150,000. The season will run from March 18 to May 2 across five or six venues in Pakistan.

The real test will come when the auction starts and franchises discover whether the same purse can still attract the overseas stars they need to sell tickets.
