SA20 generated $406 million for South African economy in latest season
SA20's economic contribution reached $406 million with 9,470 jobs created, while 22 of 34 matches sold out during the latest season.
SA20 chief operating officer Lynn Naude said the league's fourth season generated $406 million for South Africa's gross domestic product, a 23 per cent increase from the previous year. The competition created or sustained 9,470 annualised jobs according to an independent economic impact assessment.
Twenty-two of the 34 matches in the December 2025 to January 2026 season sold out across the six franchise venues. Naude said the league's significance extends beyond commercial performance to include returning spectators to cricket grounds and creating opportunities for young professionals.
Naude joined SA20 after working at the ICC and said building the competition from the ground up required managing regulations, player recruitment, commercial partnerships and event operations across the full calendar year rather than just the tournament window.

A league that measures success through economic multipliers and job creation treats cricket infrastructure as regional development policy rather than purely sporting enterprise.
