Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings have agreed to trade Hardik Pandya for Arshdeep Singh. Both franchises have submitted expressions of interest to the IPL and the deal requires written consent from both players plus BCCI ratification before it is finalised.

Hardik Pandya informed Mumbai Indians of his desire to be released. He had captained the side since IPL 2024 and recorded 15 wins and 24 defeats in 39 matches. His win-loss ratio stands at 0.625. Arshdeep Singh has taken 111 wickets in 96 IPL matches for Punjab Kings at an economy rate of 9.18.

Kieron Pollard has been appointed Mumbai Indians head coach for IPL 2027. Robin Uthappa is the batting coach, Mitchell McClenaghan the bowling coach and T Dilip the fielding coach. Hardik Pandya is not in Baroda's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy squad while Krunal Pandya will captain the side. Hardik continues rehabilitation from a series of injuries. Aakash Chopra said Mumbai Indians will not miss Hardik much if he is traded.

CricHubb Take

Arshdeep's proven death-over threat gives Mumbai a specialist they have lacked in recent seasons while Hardik's departure ends an experiment that delivered only 15 wins in 39 games as captain.
