Jamie Overton open to Test return if Root and Fleming approach him
Overton says he would think about a Test return if Root and Fleming ask him next year.
Jamie Overton said he would consider returning to Test cricket if England captain Joe Root and head coach Stephen Fleming approach him at the start of next year. The 32-year-old all-rounder paused his first-class career after his second Test appearance last summer and missed the Ashes series in Australia. He has focused on white-ball cricket since then and plays for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
Overton said his body is in good shape and credited IPL work with bowling coach Eric Simons for improving his line and length on slower pitches. He praised Fleming's calm style and said he would have to think about a red-ball return if asked. England face Sri Lanka in the next ODI on Thursday.
Overton took 3 for 38 in England's 87-run defeat to Pakistan in Rawalpindi earlier this winter. He has not ruled out a Test comeback but said any decision would depend on conversations with the new leadership team.

Overton's improved control on slower surfaces in the IPL gives England a different option from their established seamers who have struggled to adjust their lengths on subcontinent pitches.
