Gill drops to ninth and Bumrah to third in ICC Test rankings; Samson returns for Afghanistan series.
Shubman Gill slipped two places to ninth among Test batters in the latest ICC rankings released on Wednesday. Jasprit Bumrah dropped one spot to third among bowlers after New Zealand's Matt Henry moved ahead of him. Devdutt Padikkal gained five places following twin centuries in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka's Sonal Dinusha jumped 29 positions to 25th after scoring resilient centuries against India in Colombo. Ravindra Jadeja retained the number-one all-rounder ranking.
The BCCI announced a 15-member T20I squad for the Afghanistan series. Sanju Samson returns while Hardik Pandya misses out. Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy were included subject to fitness clearance.
