'Kohli over Babar, Sachin over Inzamam' — Waqar Younis
Waqar Younis selected Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar over their Pakistani counterparts in his combined XI.
Waqar Younis named his combined India-Pakistan XI on Wednesday. He selected Virat Kohli over Babar Azam and Sachin Tendulkar over Inzamam-ul-Haq. Waqar picked only one Pakistani player in the side.
The former Pakistan captain also chose Jasprit Bumrah, who reached 50 Test wickets in his 11th match and 100 in his 24th. Bumrah took a Test hat-trick in 2019 and claimed 32 wickets in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Waqar said Bumrah's record made him the automatic choice ahead of Shaheen Afridi for the pace attack.

Waqar's selection of only one Pakistani player reflects how sharply the gap in recent Test performances between the two sides has widened in the past five years.
