Parthiv Patel reveals RCB rejected his advice to sign Jasprit Bumrah in 2014
Patel said RCB dismissed his 2014 suggestion to sign Bumrah, who went on to win four IPL titles with Mumbai Indians.
Parthiv Patel has revealed that Royal Challengers Bengaluru ignored his recommendation to sign Jasprit Bumrah during the 2014 IPL mega auction.
Patel said he suggested the young pacer to RCB management after being picked himself on the first day of the auction, but was told the franchise didn't think Bumrah would be worth buying at that stage.
Bumrah was instead signed by Mumbai Indians for Rs 1.20 crore after a bidding war with Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils. He has since taken 187 wickets in 158 IPL matches at an economy rate of 7.33 and won four titles with the franchise.
Patel, who played alongside Bumrah for Gujarat, said he regretted mentioning the story during a broadcast because it went viral and created unnecessary attention around an old auction decision.

RCB's reluctance to spend on a raw Bumrah in 2014 left them chasing pace for years, while MI turned the same gamble into four titles.
