Manvanth Kumar walked in at 187 for seven and batted through the rest of the day, finishing unbeaten on 86 from 124 balls. He added 87 runs for the unbroken ninth wicket with Abhilash Shetty, who faced 85 deliveries for his six not out.

Karnataka had lost three early wickets, but Mayank Agarwal made 42, K.V. Aneesh 59 and Karun Nair 46 before the collapse. Saurashtra's left-arm spinner Parth Bhut and Jaydev Unadkat each claimed three wickets. Manvanth struck two sixes off Unadkat and three off Bhut.

Saurashtra will start their first innings on the second day with the chance to claim a first-innings lead on a surface that already helped the spinners.

CricHubb Take

Karnataka sent Manvanth at nine, so they clearly want to see how far his counter-attacking game travels in the longer format.
