Australia's pace-spin quartet reach 606 Test wickets together
Australia's Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood and Lyon became the first quartet to take 600 Test wickets together during the Durban Test against South Africa.
Australia's bowling quartet of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon became the first in Test history to take 600 wickets together during the first Test against South Africa in Durban. The four reached 606 wickets across 38 Tests by the end of day three. South Africa were dismissed for 284, giving Australia a 106-run first-innings lead.
Matt Renshaw's 190 helped Australia recover from 124 for six to post 390 in their first innings. Pat Cummins took three wickets on day three as South Africa lost their last seven wickets for 140 runs. Bad light ended play with Australia at 33 without loss, extending their lead to 139.
The quartet's achievement surpasses all previous bowling combinations in Test cricket history. Renshaw's innings was his first Test century in 10 years and featured a record 134-run stand with Nathan Lyon for the eighth wicket.

The milestone reflects sustained selection stability rather than individual peaks. All four bowlers are over 33 and have more than 300 wickets each, which means Australia has built its attack around experience at a time when most teams are accelerating youth transitions.
