Aneurin Donald signs with Perth Scorchers for 2026-27 BBL season

Donald replaces the departed Finn Allen and provides a wicketkeeper-batter option for the top order at the defending champions.

England wicketkeeper-batter Aneurin Donald agreed a one-year contract with Perth Scorchers for the 2026-27 Big Bash League season on Friday. The 29-year-old joins fellow England international Zak Crawley in the defending champions' squad. Donald's deal includes full availability through the finals.

The signing addresses the void left by Finn Allen's departure to Melbourne Stars and Josh Inglis's continued absence from the contracted list. Donald made his T20 international debut last month and scored 489 runs at a strike rate of 230.66 in this year's T20 Blast for Derbyshire.

Scorchers general manager Kade Harvey said Donald showed enormous potential during The Hundred and England's T20I series against Sri Lanka. The Welsh-born batter will feature alongside Calvin Harrison as one of three overseas players in the squad.

CricHubb Take

Donald arrives with recent international experience and domestic T20 numbers that suggest he can fill the aggressive top-order role previously occupied by Allen. His one-year deal with finals availability gives the Scorchers flexibility to assess his fit before committing to a longer arrangement.
