Temba Bavuma says South Africa showed they can pressure Australia batters
Temba Bavuma says South Africa's innings victory showed they can pressure Australia's batters heading into the Cape Town decider.
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma said his team's innings victory proved they can put sustained pressure on Australia's batting lineup. The World Test champions dismissed Australia for 99 and 295 to level the series 1-1 with one match remaining at Cape Town next week.
Bavuma's 179 anchored South Africa's first innings total of 425 for 9 declared. Kagiso Rabada took four wickets in Australia's second innings while Marco Jansen claimed five for 33 in the first innings. Scott Boland's 40 off 166 balls proved the only significant resistance from the visitors.
Bavuma said the result gives South Africa confidence heading into the decider. The teams meet at Newlands on Tuesday with the series on the line.
