Kusal Mendis struck an unbeaten 87 off 48 balls to guide Sri Lanka to an eight-wicket victory over Pakistan in the third and final T20I at Rawalpindi on Tuesday. Chasing 169, the visitors reached the target with 17 balls to spare and avoided a series whitewash.

Dasun Shanaka took 3 for 21 as Pakistan were restricted to 168 for 8 after being sent in. Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with 76 off 47 balls, but received little support from the rest of the order.

Pakistan won the three-match series 2-1 and will now prepare for an ODI tri-series involving England that begins in Rawalpindi on October 18.

CricHubb Take

The result gives Sri Lanka momentum before the two-Test series, but Pakistan’s series win keeps their confidence intact ahead of the tri-series against England.
