BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the board will arrange facilities for the Indian team at the Asian Games in Japan if the need arises. Head coach VVS Laxman will oversee the side at the multi-sport event.

The BCCI has named three net bowlers — Mayank Yadav, Kartik Tyagi and Mohsin Khan — to travel with the squad at Laxman’s request. The players will support the main squad during preparations.

India are scheduled to compete in both the men’s and women’s T20 events at the Games. The board has not confirmed the final squad composition.

CricHubb Take

The decision to send specialist net bowlers signals that the board views the Asian Games as a serious preparatory platform rather than a low-stakes exhibition.
