Karun Nair scored an unbeaten 155 as Karnataka declared their second innings at 337 for nine against Andhra in the Ranji Trophy match at Vijayawada on Wednesday. The 34-year-old reached his century in 157 balls and added 55 more runs before the declaration, which set Andhra a target of 194 runs from 45 overs. Andhra finished at 51 for two from 19 overs, and the match ended in a draw.

Nair's innings helped Karnataka erase a first-innings deficit of 144 runs. He was particularly effective against the left-arm spinners, using paddle sweeps and reverse sweeps to keep the scoreboard moving. Lalith Mohan took five for 117 for Andhra, but the home side could not press for victory after losing early wickets in their chase.

Karnataka collected one point from the draw while Andhra took three points for their first-innings lead.

Nair's return to form in the Ranji Trophy underlines why selectors kept faith with him for the England tour last year despite inconsistent opportunities.
