Aakash Chopra says KL Rahul has no path back into India's T20I side
Aakash Chopra ruled out any T20I comeback for KL Rahul given the depth at the top of India's order.
Aakash Chopra said KL Rahul has no realistic chance of returning to India's T20I side because he let his opportunity pass. Rahul last played a T20I in 2022 and now competes with Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for opening spots.
Chopra acknowledged that Rahul can bat at high speed when required, but said the current depth at the top of the order leaves no room. He added that Rahul remains important in Tests, where he is vice-captain, and in ODIs.
India begin a five-match T20I series in New Zealand on October 22, with the same four openers in contention for places.

Chopra's blunt assessment shows how quickly T20I selection windows close once a player steps away, even for someone with Rahul's pedigree and recent domestic returns.
