Lhuan-dre Pretorius scored an unbeaten 188 off 79 balls for the Titans against the Knights in the CSA T20 Challenge on Friday. The 20-year-old left-hander hit 15 fours and 13 sixes to surpass Chris Gayle's previous record of 175 not out set for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2013. He reached his fifty in 24 balls and his hundred in 40.

Pretorius fell 12 runs short of the first double century in men's T20 cricket. The Titans posted 267 for 3 before bowling out the Knights for 143 to win by 124 runs. Donovan Ferreira took 3 for 16.

Pretorius entered the match after scoring a 53-ball 101 for South Africa against Namibia last month. The innings equalled Aaron Finch and Marcus Stoinis for the longest T20 innings by balls faced.

CricHubb Take

Pretorius's innings arrived in his first match of the 2026-27 season after two international hundreds in the preceding month. The timing suggests the 20-year-old has moved from prospect to proven match-winner at a point when franchise auctions will value proven T20 firepower above potential.
