The International Cricket Council will announce the 2027 ODI World Cup schedule in Cape Town on Thursday. The 14-team tournament will run from October 2 to November 21, 2027 across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The event marks the one-year countdown to the competition and will open the global ticket ballot.

Ten nations have already qualified through the September 30 ICC ODI rankings cut-off. India, Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh join hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe. The remaining four spots will be decided through a global qualifier early next year.

The tournament will follow a new three-stage format beginning with a Super Series before the group stage and Super 7 round. India captain Rohit Sharma has stated that winning the World Cup remains his priority after the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph.

The announcement timing one year out sets up a long build-up that will test whether marketing campaigns can sustain interest through a 14-team format that includes a preliminary Super Series stage most fans have not yet seen.
