Mohammed Shami ends his 13-year Test career with 229 wickets, remaining available for limited-overs international cricket.
Mohammed Shami retired from Test cricket on November 6, 2026, thirteen years after his debut. The 36-year-old's final Test was the ICC World Test Championship Final at The Oval in June 2023.

On debut at Eden Gardens in November 2013, he took 4 for 71 and 5 for 47 against West Indies. At Johannesburg in January 2018, Shami claimed 5 for 28 on the fourth day to seal a 63-run victory.

Shami's retirement removes India's most reliable overseas new-ball option, a gap that will require either Bumrah carrying extra workload or untested alternatives stepping up.
