Marco Jansen took five for 33 as South Africa bowled Australia out for 99 on the fourth day of the second Test in Gqeberha. Jansen also scored 85 in the first innings, the highest by a South African number eight against Australia at home since 1966. The left-arm seamer helped reduce the visitors to 69 for six at lunch, still 157 runs short of avoiding the follow-on.

Temba Bavuma's 179 had earlier lifted South Africa to 425 for nine declared after the Proteas recovered from 110 for six. Bavuma became the oldest captain to score a century in a World Test Championship match against Australia at 36 years and 154 days. Steve Smith top-scored for Australia with 28 in the second innings.

South Africa leads the series 1-0 after winning the first Test by 214 runs in Durban. The hosts will look to level the three-match series when Australia resumes its second innings.
