Mitch Owen took a career-best 4-58 on day two of the Sheffield Shield match between Tasmania and Victoria in Hobart. Victoria were dismissed for 207 after a 107-run second-wicket stand between Marcus Harris and Ollie Peake. Tasmania then collapsed to 4-39 for a lead of 73 at stumps.

Owen struck early in the middle session after Victoria reached 1-107 at lunch. He removed Harris for 54 before Marcus Bean took 3-32 to finish the innings. The next six Victorian batters all reached double figures but none passed 20 as the visitors lost their final nine wickets for 91 runs.

Ben McDermott and Jake Doran remained unbeaten on 12 and 14 at stumps. The pair had earlier added 166 for the eighth wicket in Tasmania's first innings total of 134. Owen said it had been a crazy game with lots of swings.

Owen's early strike on Harris set the tone, but it also exposed how Victoria's middle order hasn't yet learned to handle the second new ball when the pitch is still fresh.
