New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner took 4 for 21 in the second T20I against India at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Saturday. His figures included the wickets of Abhishek Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel and Naman Dhir as India chased down 181 despite the four-wicket haul.

Santner's performance equalled a 19-year-old record set by Daniel Vettori, who took 4 for 20 against India in the 2007 T20 World Cup. He became the first bowler to claim two four-wicket hauls against India in T20Is, having previously taken 4 for 11 in the 2016 World Cup.

The four-wicket haul made Santner only the fourth captain overall to achieve the feat against India in the format. Daren Sammy and Namibia's Gerhard Erasmus are the other two captains to have taken four wickets in a T20I against India.

Santner's repeated success against India with the ball shows how his left-arm spin continues to exploit gaps that India's aggressive batting approach leaves exposed.
