450. Starc becomes first left-arm bowler to reach milestone in Tests
Mitchell Starc became the first left-arm bowler to take 450 Test wickets when he dismissed Wiaan Mulder on day three of the second Test against South Africa.
Mitchell Starc took his 450th Test wicket on the third day of the second Test against South Africa in Gqeberha. He dismissed Wiaan Mulder with a short ball that brushed the glove and was caught at slip after a successful DRS review. Starc reached the landmark in 20,577 balls, faster than any bowler in Test history.
He is the fourth Australian to reach 450 wickets after Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Nathan Lyon. The wicket came on the final ball of the 50th over and gave Australia their second breakthrough of the morning session.
Starc has now taken 450 wickets in 109 Tests at an average of 27.12. He leads the left-arm bowlers list ahead of Rangana Herath, Wasim Akram and Daniel Vettori.

Starc's record shows that sustained pace and swing over 15 years can outpace even the most prolific spinners in the wicket-taking race.
