Mitchell Starc said several aspects of his bowling had not felt right during the series. He reviewed footage with coach Andrew McDonald and wife Alyssa Healy before day one at Newlands. Starc claimed the adjustments allowed him to problem-solve during the match and finish with six for 72.

He took his final four wickets in six balls with the second new ball after the surface offered slow tennis-ball bounce earlier. Starc noted the ball began to swing late in the day. He added that his personal view on the toss decision did not matter.

Starc reached his 450th Test wicket in the previous match at Gqeberha. His figures on day one helped restrict South Africa after they reached 216 for four.

CricHubb Take

Starc's habit of reviewing footage with both coach and partner points to a deliberate routine rather than a one-off fix. That preparation turned a misfiring spell into a match-shaping burst inside two overs.
