Shami insists he remains at peak after New Zealand omission

Shami says he is still at his peak and will keep working for an India recall after missing the New Zealand tour.

Mohammed Shami said he remains at his peak and will not abandon hope of an India return after missing selection for the New Zealand tour. The fast bowler spoke after Bengal's Ranji Trophy match against Services and said goals must stay in place in any sport.

Shami last represented India at the Champions Trophy in March 2025. He credited Bengal for shaping his career and said he would finish it with the same team. He dismissed concerns over his absence from one Ranji fixture, calling the move tactical because the pitch offered little for seamers.

Shami welcomed Bhuvneshwar Kumar's return to the T20I side and added that he will continue to focus on domestic cricket rather than plan far ahead.

CricHubb Take

Shami's continued domestic workload keeps him visible to selectors at a time when India's white-ball attack faces questions about depth.
