MS Dhoni urges Gen Z to play sports and maintain physical activity for long-term health
MS Dhoni urged Gen Z and Gen Alpha to participate in sports and maintain physical activity to avoid health problems that develop from sedentary modern lifestyles.
MS Dhoni told young people to pick up a sport and keep moving if they want to stay healthy later in life. He was speaking at an event with writer Javed Akhtar when he pointed out how lifts, apps and fast food have cut daily movement to almost nothing.
Earlier generations burned calories just getting through the day, he said, while today's routine is eight hours sitting followed by a delivery dinner. Dhoni warned that a diet heavy on carbs, sugar and fried food, paired with almost no activity, starts showing problems after 30.
He wants kids to try several sports in school so they find one they like and stick with it. Fitness, he added, means you can actually spend time with family instead of only earning the money to support them.

Dhoni's warning lands hardest on parents who grew up playing outside but now hand their kids screens the moment they're home from school.
