Mukesh Choudhary took five wickets for 78 runs as Rest of India restricted Jammu and Kashmir to 278 in the Irani Cup match in Srinagar on Friday. The left-arm seamer rocked J&K twice in the initial exchanges, bowling Shubham Khajuria with an inswinger and bouncing out Qamran Iqbal. He later removed Kanhaiya Wadhawan and Abid Mushtaq to finish with figures of 5 for 78.

J&K were 166 for eight before Lone Nasir Muzaffar scored 64 off 58 balls to help them reach 278. Rest of India were bowled out for 237 in their first innings and ended day two at 24 for one in their second innings, trailing by 17 runs. Akash Deep took three wickets for 43 runs.

Choudhary said he feels good with the way he bowled, using inswingers, outswingers and bouncers to take wickets. He said he has become smarter about training and bowling, prioritising physical conditioning alongside a regulated bowling volume of 30 to 35 overs per week.

Choudhary's five-wicket haul in only his 22nd first-class match shows how injuries have limited his opportunities despite his ability to swing the ball both ways at pace.
