Mukesh Kumar claimed 6 for 33 and Akash Deep took 3 for 25 as Rest of India bowled Jammu and Kashmir out for 111 to win the Irani Cup by 167 runs in Srinagar. Rest of India defended a target of 279 after posting 445 in their first innings, led by Ravichandran Smaran's 135. The match finished on the fourth day at Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium.
Mukesh Kumar took two wickets in an over after drinks on day four and finished with eight wickets in the match. Akash Deep removed Qamran Iqbal early in the second innings. J&K lost their last seven wickets for 22 runs after lunch.
The performance comes with India set to tour New Zealand for two Tests starting in November. Mukesh Kumar has played three Tests and last featured for India in July 2024.
