Ireland opener Paul Stirling suffered a fractured left ring finger while fielding against Namibia on October 27. He sustained the injury while diving for a catch off Jan Frylinck in the 15th over. Cricket Ireland confirmed the injury on October 28, ruling him out of the remaining two ODIs.

Lorcan Tucker has been named captain for the last two matches. Tim Tector, who has played eight T20Is but no ODIs, was added to the squad as Stirling's replacement. Ireland lead the series 2-1 after three matches, with the fourth and fifth ODIs scheduled for October 30 and November 1 in Windhoek.

Stirling scored 56 and 77 in the first two ODIs before his injury. The series will conclude on November 1.

Ireland's series lead now rests on a new captain and a debutant middle-order batter with no ODI experience. The two remaining matches will test how quickly the squad can adjust its top-order structure under match conditions.
