Rain cut short the fifth T20I at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, leaving India on 118 for five after 7.4 overs. The match had already been trimmed to nine overs a side when Naman Dhir walked in at number six.

Dhir faced six balls and hit three sixes and a four, including 20 runs off Keemo Paul in one over. Ishan Kishan had given India their start with 30 off 10, Shreyas Iyer made 22 off 14, and Tilak Varma chipped in with 7 off 6 before the rain returned.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was back in the side for the first time since November 2022, Arshdeep Singh passed a fitness test, and Nitish Kumar Reddy missed out through illness. The series sits at 2-2 with one match left.

CricHubb Take

Dhir's six-ball cameo was the only new piece of information selectors can actually use; the rest of the card had already been decided by the weather.
