Five Indian players strengthened their T20 World Cup credentials after India's 2-0 series lead over New Zealand.
India's 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand has strengthened the cases of five players for future international assignments, including the 2028 T20 World Cup. Shreyas Iyer scored 42 from 28 balls in the series opener and captained the side in both matches. Tilak Varma earned player-of-the-match honours in the second game with his unbeaten 51.
Nitish Kumar Reddy remained unbeaten on 26 from 13 balls in the second match and added an unbroken 69-run stand with Varma. Sanju Samson scored 67 from 33 balls in the opening fixture. Naman Dhir made 42 not out from 15 balls in the first match and 31 from 17 in the second.
India next play the third T20I in Wellington on Tuesday. A win would give them an unassailable 3-0 lead with two matches remaining.
