Former coaches say Nitish Reddy must convert potential into consistent performances

Coaches call on Nitish Reddy to convert promise into reliable all-round contributions before 2027 World Cup.

Former fielding coach R Sridhar said Nitish Kumar Reddy is punching below his ability with the bat and needs to improve over the next 12 months. He hopes the youngster strengthens his case ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa. Bharat Arun, the former bowling coach, thinks Nitish has the pace to succeed as an all-rounder but must execute plans under pressure.

India tour New Zealand later this month across all formats. Hardik Pandya's fitness concerns have pushed Nitish into sharper focus as a seam-bowling all-rounder. Sridhar urged patience, noting Hardik could still return fit or that Nitish could develop further before the World Cup.

Arun said Nitish already has the ingredients to fill the all-rounder role, yet his work ethic will decide long-term success. Sridhar remains confident Hardik will overcome his current fitness issues.

The real test for Nitish isn't New Zealand; it's whether the selectors stay patient once Hardik is fit again and the next uncapped prospect starts knocking on the door.
