Pat Cummins becomes first active cricketer to back medical care appeal for Imran Khan

Pat Cummins extends support to jailed former Pakistan PM Imran Khan, becoming the first active player to join the medical care appeal.

Australian captain Pat Cummins has urged better medical care for former Pakistan prime minister and cricket legend Imran Khan. Cummins posted on social media that he hopes Imran Khan is treated with the dignity anyone deserves. The appeal makes Cummins the first active international cricketer to back the campaign. Twenty-two former international captains jointly wrote to Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif last week urging proper medical care inside prison. The petition requests completion of a court-directed medical assessment and family access for the jailed former leader. Cummins' support extends the campaign beyond retired players into current international circles. Imran Khan remains imprisoned in Pakistan following his removal from office.

Cummins' intervention may encourage other current international captains to publicly address humanitarian concerns involving former players regardless of political sensitivities.
