Cummins says Renshaw likely to stay at number five for second Test

Renshaw's match-winning scores have earned him a permanent place in the middle order.

Australia captain Pat Cummins said Matt Renshaw is likely to remain at number five for the second Test against South Africa. Renshaw scored 190 and 82 in the first Test at Durban.

Renshaw was asked to bat three places higher than usual and accepted the role without complaint. Cummins praised the batter for helping Nathan Lyon and himself through long partnerships.

Cameron Green remains unavailable through injury. Nathan Lyon could also miss the match depending on weather conditions in Gqeberha.

Renshaw's flexibility in moving up the order signals a broader shift in Australia's middle-order strategy, where players must adapt to team needs rather than waiting for their preferred positions.
