331. Phil Salt's record Shai Hope can break with 71 runs

Shai Hope needs 71 runs to break Phil Salt's bilateral T20I series record of 331.

West Indies captain Shai Hope needs 71 runs in the fifth T20I to surpass Phil Salt's record of 331 runs in a bilateral T20I series. Hope has scored 261 runs in four matches so far.

Salt set the mark with 331 runs in five matches against the West Indies in December 2023. Hope already holds the record for most runs in a T20I series against India.

A century in Bengaluru would also make Hope the first captain to score four T20I hundreds. He is currently tied with Rohit Sharma, Babar Azam and Adil Butt on three each.

CricHubb Take

Hope's pursuit of Salt's mark masks a larger pattern: the record has changed hands twice in three years, indicating that bilateral white-ball cricket is producing outlier run hauls more frequently than the format's supposed balance would predict.
